THE ORGANIZATION Cooperation Center for Afghanistan, Mazar-i-Sharif founded in 1990, is an Afghan non-governmental and non- political organization. While situated in Mazar-i-Sharif, it spreads its activities over the Northern provinces of Afghanistan. CCA Mazar has been running a safe house in Mazar city since 2006, addressing the physical, psychological and social implications of incidents of violence against women in family settings. It fosters reconciliation and reintegration through family mediation. CCA Mazar’s peace building section regularly conducts trainings on family mediation, non-violent conflict transformation and human rights in Mazar-i-Sharif as well as in the Northern provinces of Afghanistan. Moreover, Cooperation Center for Afghanistan introduced one focal point in each Northern provinces to promote the culture of supporting the victims of family violence, to follow up the safe house clients’ cases that have been reintegrated and to cooperate with Departments of Women Affairs. Beside aforementioned goals, this opportunity promoted networking activities, facilitated access to women and girls who are in danger in order to support them and decreased the measure of family violence.
